You do have to be careful what you say online, as people have long memories and nothing is rarely, truly deleted. With this in mind, it comes as no surprise that Gaia have finally got around to suing Patty Greer with defamation. If you watch many of Greer’s YouTube videos she has made some serious claims about Gaia and how they have treated her. The lawsuit alleges that “as early as September 2017, and recently intensifying in nature and degree, (Greer) embarked on a calculated course of conduct designed to attack Gaia’s business and its professional reputation.”
The court papers also allege that Greer’s YouTube videos state that Gaia executives and it’s employees are involved in “pedophilia, Satanism, Luciferianism, computer hacking, “energy weapons” and business misconduct”.
Of course, there is more to this story than just mud-slinging. Gaia alleges that it’s been trying to recoup it’s $10,000 advance it gave to Greer in return for the rights to her movies. Gaia claims that there was little interest in Greer’s films and they have not recouped their initial advance. Greer, in response, claims that Gaia buried her films.
So, will Greer claim there is some grand conspiracy, censorship or cover-up against her and her movies, as she has done in the past? Will Greer launch a crowd-funding campaign for her legal campaign? (Patty has launched crowd-funding campaigns in the past that have failed miserably). Or is she going to have to settle the legal claim? Either way, the lesson is that you have to be careful what you say online.
